Ted was the sixth of seven children of Frank and Ethel Hawkins. He served in the navy and was married to Venia White on September 3, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri. Ted worked in outdoor construction and surveying for many years. He retired and lived out his life at his home in North Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, and five siblings. He was survived by three children, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a sister.
