William Edward "Eddie" Koontz, 80, passed away on January 29, 2022, in Washington, Indiana, at his residence. Eddie was born on October 10, 1941, in Ellettsville, Indiana, to the late James M. Koontz and Avalene Allen Koontz.

Eddie attended the Ellettsville High School and was a 1959 graduate. He then enrolled at Indiana University and spent three years there studying. During his time at IU, he was a member of the Marching 100 Band, and he was especially proud of that. After college, Eddie married the love of his life, Delores Ann Koontz, and they spent 57 years together. Together they had four children: Billy, James, Rachel, and Tiana.

Eddie served as a pastor for many years, and even while he was working at Crane Naval Base as a material handler, he still officiated many weddings and funerals. He was a member of a quartet for many years and traveled the country with various Christian artists. Eddie loved to watch a good western movie, but most importantly, he loved to spend time with family any chance he had.

Surviving Eddie is his wife, Delores Ann Koontz (Fields); his children, Billy Koontz (Melissa) of Crane, Indiana, James Koontz of Washington, Indiana, Rachel Swaby of Bloomfield, Indiana, Tiana Faith (John) of Owensville, Indiana; his sister Paulene Jared (Ron), fourteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his brother-in-law, Forrest "Frosty" Fields (Mary-Ann), his sister-in-law, Brenda Chambers, and several nieces and nephews.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, one great grandson, his brothers Harry and Bernard Koontz, and his beloved daughter in law, Jodi Renee.

Visitation for Eddie will be held on Monday February 7, 2022, at Goodwin Sievers Funeral Home 2020 State St. Washington, Indiana 47501 from 10:00am – 12:00pm. A funeral service will follow immediately at 12:00pm. Eddie will be laid to rest in the Dishman Cemetery in Greene County, Indiana.
