Zilda Jo Koenig Ricketts – 72 passed away Friday, June 1, 2007 in Dumas, Texas. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, June 4, 2007 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Turner, former music director of First Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rick Korsmo, pastor of Bible Baptist Church. Private graveside services will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.

Zilda was born December 22, 1934 in Runge, Texas to Albert and Pearl Koenig. She graduated from Cuero High School in 1952 and from the University of Texas with a teaching degree in 1956. She taught at Sunset Elementary for 19 years and Dumas High School for 7 years before retiring in 1990. On August 4, 1956 she married George Y. Ricketts in Falfurrias, Texas. She had met George at First Baptist Church in Dumas. Zilda was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years and taught Sunday school for many of those years. In 1994 she helped write the history of the First Baptist Church. In her retirement she loved to quilt and crafted many beautiful quilts for family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include: her husband, George of the home; two daughters, Carol Potter of San Antonio and Rachel Gillespie and husband, Shannon of Dumas; three grandsons, Justin Potter of San Antonio, Joshua Gillespie, Nathan Gillespie, both of Dumas; four granddaughters, Sarah Neely of San Antonio, Jennifer Gillespie, Stephanie Gillespie, Katie Gillespie, all of Dumas; two great-grandchildren, Stephen and Quinn Neely of San Antonio; two sisters, Maudy Lehne of Center Point and Carolyn Hilderbrand of Meridian, Texas.
