Shirley Daniel Haynes Gregory was born in Dallas on August 16,1934. She was adopted at birth by Glen and Eula Bell Daniel. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1951 and began college at Southern Methodist University at the age of 17. She fell in love and married Carl Haynes in 1953. They had 35 wonderful years of marriage. Shirley cared for Carl after he developed lung cancer and passed away in 1986. Shirley decided to be a hospital volunteer and served for many years. She met James Gregory, also a widower, in 2004 and they married later that year. She and Jim loved and enjoyed 14 years of marriage together. Shirley cared for Jim when he became ill and passed in May of 2018. Shirley was loved and cared for by Jim Gregory's three daughters when she began to show signs of dementia and Parkinson's. Shirley was provided with wonderful 24-hour care in her home by James and Phoebe Evans who became part of the family. She was moved to memory care a few months before she passed away on November 26, 2021.

Shirley is survived by her best buddy and cousin, Ed Daniel and his family. Also, her family from her marriage to Carl Haynes; including David and Randy Conville and their families. Other survivors are her three stepdaughters, Jeannie McCrea Fischer, Jan Nelson and Betty Ann Benjamin and their families, her caretakers, Phoebe and James Evans and Zulema Barja. She is also survived by many beloved ladies from her card group and church friends from Lake Highlands Baptist Church. She loved to sing and was a member of the singing group New Song, who came to sing for her and brought many hugs while she was in memory care. Shirley loved people and made friends all over the world in her travels; especially friends in Ruidoso, New Mexico and at Mount Hermon Christian Camp in California.

Shirley loved life and loved Jesus. She was His hands and feet while on earth. Now she is resting in His arms and singing with the heavenly choir.
