Dr. C. E. Presnell, 81, a widely known retired physician of Cape Girardeau and Bollinger Counties died early Sunday at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He had suffered an attack of paralysis about three months ago and had been at the hospital since that time.
Dr. Presnell was born in this (Bollinger) County, where he spent most of his life. He resided in Cape County for a few years and for the past several years had resided at Fredericktown.
He practiced medicine at Sedgewickville, Patton, and Millersville.
He became the owner of considerable farm land and at one time owned land in three counties. He owned property and farmland in Marble Hill; and also served as Presiding Judge of the Bollinger County court.
He is survived by his wife, who was Ara Hartle before her marriage; two daughters, Mrs. Eula Shrum of Fredericktown, MO; and Mrs. J.L. Rastl of Cape Girardeau, MO; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Kinder of Sedgewickville, MO; several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Two grandsons, Junior Rastl and Charles Shrum, are in the armed forces, overseas.
The body was removed to the Wilson-Statler-Seabaugh Funeral Home in Jackson, and funeral services were Tuesday afternoon at the Hartle Cemetery.
