C. Edward "Ed" Snider, 94, of New Lexington, formerly of Somerset, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Genesis Healthcare.

Ed was born June 10, 1921 in Somerset, the son of the late Pius J. and Margaret Walker Snider.

He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, and had worked for the Somerset Rosary Press, Belden Brick, Crown Zellarbach Paper Mill, had dug graves in Holy Trinity Cemetery, and various other jobs, always staying busy. His passion was farming.

Ed is survived by his family, which was the love of his life, his four sons and three daughters, James (Patricia) Snider of New Lexington, William (Becky) Snider of New Lexington, Mary Swinehart of Somerset, Elizabeth Kennedy of Zanesville, John Jack (Marsha) Snider of New Lexington, Patty Vernon of Gallipolis, and Vince Snider of New Lexington; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Miller Snider (2004); a granddaughter; 4 brothers; 4 sisters; and a son-in-law.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Bope-Thomas Funeral Home in Somerset where Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Thursday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Stephen Carmody as celebrant, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Gene Dawson.

Burial will follow in Community Gardens.
