"Billie Ray 'Bill' Leeper, 68 of rural Chanute, died late Saturday morning form injuries sustained in a farming accident."
"He was born in Perry, IA, a son of Lyle M. and Florence "Marie" Stonehocker Leeper. His mother died at a young age and his father married Pearl Darlene Stonehocker (step-mother)."
He grew up in Winslow, NE and attended the two-room school in Winslow until high school, where he attended his freshman and sophomore years at the old Hooper High School. From his junior year until his graduation in 1972 he attended Logan View Jr. Sr. High School. Home of the "Raiders."
"He worked with his father in plumbing at Hooper, NE before moving to Kansas in 1978, where he worked for Comfort Contractors as a plumber for forty years. He retired and was currently working part-time at CDL as head plumber and digger."
"He was a member of the E.L.K.S. Lodge No. 806 at Chanute and also the Shriner's and was a Hospital Dad. He loved cows, playing pool and was a major Dallas Cowboys and Nebraska Husker fan. He also liked watching John Wayne. He kept grounds at the E.L.K.S. lake at Chanute for twenty years."
Bill married his first wife, (living) on Aug. 18, 1973 at the First Baptist in Fremont, NE. They later divorced. His married his second wife, (living) on 11 Feb 2000 in Chanute, KS. They divorced. Bill's last married was to (living) on Aug. 9, 2013 in Eureka Springs, AR. She survives.
Also, surviving is his daughter, (living), OK, his siblings and spouses, sister/husband(living), NV, sister/companion (living), TN, sister (living), KS, brother/wife (living), KS, sister/husband (living), NE, brother (living), IA, sister/husband (living), NE. Two step-sons and their wives, (living), MO and (living) Thayer, KS. A step-daughter and husband, (living), KS; a grandson; 6 step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; two paternal aunt and two maternal aunts, and cousins.
His parents, step-mother, and two nephews, Blair Stover and Jesse Leeper preceded him in death along with his paternal and maternal grandparents, many uncles, aunts, cousins and second cousins.
"Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, February 4, 2022 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Parson. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 Thursday at the funeral home."
"Memorials are suggested to the Shriner's Children's Hospital or to the E.L.K.S. Lodge No. 806 Lake Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home, P.O. Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357. Online condolences may be left at www.wallfuneralservices.com"
