"The Carpers of Carper Valley, Frederick County, Virginia"
According to the diary of Edgar W. Carper, CREEK WILLIAM CARPER "lived across the creek from where the BUFFLOW LICK RUN empties in the creek below Carpers Valley Church.
"As a child LUCY JANE WELSH, a Carper descendant through Philip, Jr. line, used to play on 'CREEK BILL" CARPER's homesite. There is nothing left to mark the spot where the house stood except some very old lilac trees and some stones that, according to family legend, are gravestones, stuck upended in the ground. There are no markings on the stones."
