Richard (Dick) Corliss
August 16, 1937 – January 16, 2022

Dick was born in Lebam, Washington to Joe and Gazelle Corliss. The family then moved to the Hillsboro area where Dick attended grade school at Peter Boscow School. During World War II both of his parents worked in the shipyards building Liberty ships for the war effort.

In 1945 after the war, the family moved to South Dakota where the family bought a farm in Cresbard and later a farm in Houghton where he attended grade school. Dick attended Hecla High School where he played football, basketball and his all time favorite sport Track. His participation in the sport consisted of the mile run, relays and low hurdles in which he won several medals in all categories.

In 1955 after serving as president of his class he graduated from Hecla High School and enrolled in Northern State University. There he attended college for one year and on a whim with several friends decided to enlist in the army together in 1956. Dick served as a proud member of the 82nd Airborne Division. At the end of his enlistment period Dick returned to the Aloha area of Oregon and followed in his father's footsteps becoming a Steamfitter/welder. Dick was good at his trade and worked all over the United States. He was a 57 year member of the Steamfitter's Union Local 290.

In December of 1960, Dick married for the first time and fathered two sons and a daughter from that marriage. Hunting fishing and camping were some family activities that he enjoyed with his children. In his younger years he joined the Active 20/30 Club of Hillsboro where he made life-long friends that he always cherished.

In November of 1980 Dick married his current wife, Clara, of 41 years in Hillsboro, Oregon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Dick passed away from complications of dementia.

He is survived by his wife, Clara, children Grant Corliss (wife Jeena), Tim Corliss (wife Kimberly), Renee Herb (husband Rob), and step-daughter Denise Ramsden (Husband Jerry). Surviving granddaughters are Abby Graves (husband Clint), Aimee Macke (husband Lanse), step-granddaughter Danielle Ramsden, grandsons Aidan Corliss, Dylan Corliss and step-grandson Kevin Ramsden. His great grandchildren are Maguire, Olivia, and Walker Graves of Redmond, Oregon. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Dinger (husband Dick), sister-in-law Joyce Corliss, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by this parents Joe and Gazelle Corliss, in-laws Albert and Eva Schibig, brother Ron Corliss, niece Ramona Ortega and step-sons Dale and Brian Erickson.

The funeral home handling arrangements for Dick is Springer and Son of Aloha. The final resting place for Dick will be in a family plot at the Detroit Cemetery in Hecla, South Dakota.

A memorial service will be held in Beaverton, Oregon later this year in August around Dick's 85th birthday.
