William Commodore Wills, Sr., 82, of South Pittsburg,Tennessee. He was a 1951 graduate of West Virginia University where he received a degree in mechanical engineering. A native of Peterstown, West Virginia, Mr. Wills came to South Pittsburg in 1960 as a field engineer for Westinghouse Corp. to install controls at the TVA Widows Creek Power Plant. He continued to travel all over the country in his work, with South Pittsburg as his home base. He retired from Westinghouse in 1968 and for several years owned and operated Wills Grocery and Appliances. He later returned to his field of engineering, retiring from the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant in 1989. He enjoyed traveling, camping and motor homing with his many RV friends and was very active with the Tennessee Ridge Runners group. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II in the South Pacific as a Corpsman in the Navy's Hospital Corps on the Island of New Caledonia. He was an active member of the South Pittsburg Lions Club for nearly 30 years, a member of the American Legion and the First Baptist Church of South Pittsburg. Mr. Wills was preceded in death by his parents Atlee B. and Lottie Dunn Wills of Peterstown, W. VA. Survivors include his beloved wife of 42 years, Susie Durham Wills, one daughter, Kathryn (Christopher) Maher, of Charlotte, NC and one son, William Commodore (Laura) Wills, Jr. of Chattanooga, TN; one sister, Virginia Frizzell of Arlington, Va, three brothers, Leonard Wills of Roanoke, Va, Eugene (Norma) Wills of Wytheville, Va, and Robert (Caroline) Wills of Melbourne, Fl., several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
