William Arlin Jenkins, 77, of the Atoah Community in Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 13, 2016 at his residence. A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Claude A. and Bonnie Holder Jenkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Shope. Arlin loved going to church and was a member of Atoah Baptist Church. He loved going to visit every Sunday to the Nursing Home. He didn't go to just one church; he went to all the churches. He was retired from the Stanley Furniture Company and worked with the US Forest Service after he retired. He never knew a stranger and would always help someone if they needed anything. If you ever drove up Atoah, you would find him beside the road doing something or talking to someone who had just stopped by to talk. Arlin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Beasley Jenkins; his daughter and son in law, Donna and Joe Yeargin of Robbinsville, NC; his son, Scott Jenkins of Robbinsville, NC; his granddaughters, Candy Jones and her companion, Tim Manuel, and Lacy Yeargin and her fiancAC.e, D.J. Grindstaff, and Alexis Jenkins Evans and her husband, Jesse Evans; one great grandson, Jace Garrett Evans; his special little buddy, Preston Thompson, who called Arlin "Papaw"; his brother, Clell Jenkins and his wife, Becky, of Byron, GA; and his sisters, Hilma Keever and her husband, Kay, of Robbinsville, NC, and Juanita Shope of Bessemer City, NC. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverends Jeff Jordan and Teddy Silvers will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the Chapel, prior to the service. Townson-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
