Jerald Charles (JC) Birck passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the age of 79, surrounded by family. He was proud and bragged about grandchildren and great-grandchildren who all called him "Opa."

JC was born July 16, 1942, in Fredericksburg, Texas, to Felix and Ruby Birck nee Scharnhorst.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Darleen Itz Birck of Fredericksburg, married November 21, 1964, and survived by his three children.

Son: Keven Birck of Tucson, Arizona, Daughter: Diane McDaniel and husband Danny of Coppell, Texas, Daughter: Kayleen Youngblood and husband Brian of Austin, Texas.

JC had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; Cam McDaniel and wife Stephani with their three children, Emori, Evanna and Benaiah, Gavin McDaniel and wife Megan, TJ McDaniel, Emily Youngblood, and Blake Youngblood.

He was also survived by his three sisters: Doris Schneider, Joyleen Petsch and husband James, and Sharon Wanner and husband Perry.

JC and Darleen were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fredericksburg, Texas.

JC was a sports fan, especially football and enjoyed watching his grandsons play football and his granddaughter play lacrosse. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. His life-long career was working as a carpenter/cabinet maker.

A member of St Joseph's Society, St. Maximilian Kolbe Prison retreats, ACTS Missions, and Knights of Columbus.

Viewing will be at Schaetter Funeral Home between 5 pm and 7 pm Tuesday, January 25, with the rosary beginning at 6 pm. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 am with a procession at 10 am to St Mary's Catholic church for mass, followed by entombment at St Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery and fellowship at St Mary's Holy Family Center.
