He was born on February 2, 1933 in Leland, MI. On September 8, 1956 in Elkhart he married Elizabeth "Beth" Evans, she died August 30, 2015.
Surviving are two daughters, Kimberly A. (Brian) Baxter Miller of Middlebury, Amy Jo Baxter of Elkhart; seven grandchild, Andrew, Amber, Adam, Amanda, Arthur, Avery and Adrienne; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon L. (Jill) Baxter of Maple City, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Irene C. (Buckler) Baxter and his wife.
Bill had attended both Valparaiso University and Western University where he played football and received his bachelor's degree in engineering. He had worked as an architect and general contractor for most of his life in the construction industry. He also was an owner/operator of a marina and a foam installation company.
His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending every event of theirs that he could possibly make.
Family and friends will gather at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 28 at Riverbend Park, Middlebury for a celebration of life service.
