Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, at St. Peter Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. There will be no visitation and masks are strongly suggested for the service. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church or Meals on Wheels in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home.
Betty was born on August 19, 1933, in Dallas County, MO and was the daughter of the late Charles Albert Guthrie and Clara Garrison Guthrie. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1950 and worked as a preschool teacher for over 25 years with Marshall Public Schools and Noah's Ark Preschool at First Christian Church in Marshall. On May 20, 1954, she married Ray Arth who survives of the home. Betty was a longtime member of St. Peter Catholic Church, its Altar and Rosary Society, and the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a Girl Scout leader for 10 years and received the St. Ann Medal, an award for outstanding contributions to the spiritual development of girls under her care. In addition, Betty also volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and three siblings: Ray Guthrie, Helen True and Virginia Knipmeyer.
