Boyd Carrick Yaden died June 10, 2020 following a lengthy illness. He had been a resident of the Oregon Veterans' Home - Lebanon.

Boyd was born June 5, 1944 in Washington DC to Lynn "Boyd" Yaden and Myrtle Madison-Yaden. He graduated South Medford High School, Medford, OR in 1962. He studied Science/Social Science at Oregon State University and graduated with the class of 1967. He became an officer in the US Air Force after college graduation. He was stationed at Adair AFS, Benton County, OR from 1967 to 1969. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Thailand from 1969 to 1970 as a combat controller in the 621st Tactical Control Squadron at Udorn and Khao Khieo, callsigns "Brigham" and "Dressy Lady". After that, he transferred to the 91st Strategic Missile Wing in Minot, ND and served as a Minuteman III missile combat crew commander until 1973.

In June 1973, he transferred to the Oregon Air National Guard and worked in the 116th Tactical Control Squadron in Portland, OR. He later became a Senior Director of Air National Guard Recruiting in Portland. In 1988, he entered the USAF Reserve and was a USAF Reserve Advisor at Klamath Falls, OR until May 1994, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was also an Air Force Advisor to Civil Air Patrol at Klamath Falls.

Boyd married Karon Brassfield in Oregon on October 9, 1976. They lived in Gladstone until 1988 when they moved to Klamath Falls. Boyd worked at The Oregon Bank (later Bank of America) from 1976 to 1988. He was a Chapter 7 Panel Trustee for the US Bankruptcy Court, District of Oregon, 1994 - 1999. They moved to Clackamas after leaving Klamath Falls.

Boyd was a docent at the Evergreen Air & Space Museum for a number of years. He fought diabetes for many years and his health declined in his later years. After his wife Karon died in 2016, he moved to the Oregon Veterans' Home in Lebanon, OR. He died June 10, 2020 after a long fight with COVID-19.

He was preceded in death by his father Boyd and mother Myrtle as well as his wife Karon. He is survived by nieces and nephews in Oregon, Iowa and Wisconsin. He was interred with Karon at Willamette National Cemetery.
