Ada Lou Purifoy, age 80 of Wilmington, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 10, 2022.

Ada Lou was born on May 20, 1941 in New Bern, NC to the late Guy Orlando and Pauline Carawan.

Ada Lou loved her church and God's people deeply, especially those that she lovingly called the "shut ins". She would visit the elderly churchgoers if they missed a service, bringing them reading materials and anything else from the sermon that they missed. Ada Lou also loved a good ol' Southern Gospel. She was a woman devoted to the Lord and loved helping others.

Ada Lou is survived by her daughter Sandra Lou Purifoy-Wells (Nathan), grandchild LouSandra Wells-Asbury (Scott), nieces Elaine Butterfield, Donna Gail Burnett (Chuck) of Iowa, nephews Kenneth Allen Purifoy, David A. Purifoy (Barbara), Daryle Jay Purifoy, Jerry Gaskins (Wanda Faye), Ravon Gaskins (Edna), and C. Wayne Purifoy of Florida, and her special adopted Goungampo family of Togo, West Africa. In addition to her aforementioned parents, Ada Lou is predeceased by her husband of nearly 50 years, Sanford "Sandy" Purifoy and her nephew Gerald David Purifoy.
