Louisa Belle Close Landreth went by her middle name of Belle. She died at the age of 52 years. A visitor to the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Whittier, California in 1953 reported that David and Belle's gravestones had been overturned and the dates were unreadable.

In 1968 both Mt. Olive Cemetery and Broadway Cemetery which were side by side were converted into Founders Park. Graves not claimed by family members were covered over and a marker listing those who remain erected.

The original cemetery walkways were maintained in the park and the unclaimed headstones are stored at the Whittier Museum.
