Albert E. Bending III, 73, of Hazleton passed away Thursday at his home.
Born in Weatherly, he was the son of the late Albert E. Bending Jr. and Gladys Anthony Bending. Albert grew up in Japan-Jeddo and graduated from Hazle Twp. High School.
He was a car enthusiast and an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed frequenting Dunkin' Donuts and the friendships he made there. But his greatest pleasure came from spending time with his family and friends, especially time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandson. He retired from the Hazleton State Police in 2011 after 37 years of service as their automotive supervisor. After retirement, he worked part time at Berger Family Dealerships and later at Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships. He was a member of the Jeddo Stars AA and in his younger years held an office in the club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William; and a sister, Bonnie.
Surviving are a son, William Bending Sr., Hazleton; daughters, Kimberly Bauer, Schuylkill Haven; Heather Bending and fiancée, Jessica Ryan, Freeland; and Bonnie Torre and husband, Aristide, White Haven; sisters, Tara Bending and wife, Maureen Ryneski; and Patricia Willis. Also surviving are grandchildren, Tabitha Bauer; Ani Bending and fiancé, Jonathan Reyes; Heidi Bauer; Alastrina Bending; William Bending Jr.; Keelie Bending; Ciro Torre; and great-grandson, Nolan Reyes.
A memorial service at McHugh-Wilczek Funeral Home, 249 Centre St., Freeland.
