Bill Tapscott, 90, of Union Ridge community, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, January 7, 2022. A native of Alamance County, he was the son of John Henry Tapscott and Bessie McCauley Tapscott, both deceased.

Bill was a veteran of the US Navy and was employed by Duke Power for nearly 40 years as a lineman and later, as a line crew supervisor. After retirement, he took great pride in his gardening and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with his neighbors. Bill was a lifetime member of Union Ridge Church.

Bill is survived by his two sons Kent Tapscott and wife Roxanne of Burlington, and Kyle Tapscott, of Pine Bluff, N.C. Surviving grandchildren are Brett Tapscott and wife Brooke, of Raleigh, N.C., and Heather Tapscott, of Burlington; great- grandchildren Reid Tapscott and Reese Tapscott, both of Raleigh, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Barbara M. Tapscott, as well as six sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 12, at 10:00 am at the Union Ridge Church Fellowship Hall, followed by a memorial service at Union Ridge Church at 11:00 am, with Rev. Dan Ficklin presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Union Ridge Church, 115 Altamahaw Union Ridge Road, Burlington, NC 27217.
