Phillip Jeffrey Curtis, 46, of Beuna Vista Drive, Toccoa, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at the Habersham Medical Center.

The son of Josephine Valentine Curtis Bearden and the late Riley Sanford Curtis, he was born April 11, 1956 in Florence, Ala., where he lived most of his life before moving to Toccoa 25 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked for Stephens County. He was a member of New Birth Revival Center where he played the bass guitar. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jo Eller.

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 3, at the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home. The Revs. Ray Strickland and Terry Yearwood officiated. Interment was at Stephens Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include his mother, Josephine Valentine Curtis Bearden and step-father Cecil Bearden of Toccoa; a brother, Charles Curtis and sister-in-law, Renea Curtis of Florence, Ala.; a nephew, Tony Curtis of Florence, Ala., a niece Tori Curtis of Florence, Ala.; three half-brothers, J.B. Curtis, Sandy Curtis, Ronald Curtis, all of Florence, Ala. and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Larry Hicks, Randy Keller, Jeff Dee, Bobby King Jr., Daniel Cantrell and Bobby King Sr.

Acree- Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
