Allen W. Kief, 90, of Morris, passed away Wednesday, January, 5, 2022 at Regency Care in Morris. Born November 21, 1931, in Roberts, Illinois, he was the son of the late Richard and Vera (Houtzel) Kief.
Allen grew up in Roberts, Illinois. He was a graduate of Roberts High School and a graduate of University of Illinois in Champaign in 1956, graduating with a Bachelors in Science in Accounting. Allen married Frances Hoyt on December 21, 1960, in Denver, Colorado. He worked for General Electric Company for 17 years, working at various locations such as Fort Wayne, Indiana, Denver, Colorado, Oakland and San Jose, California and eventually, Morris. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Morris Country Club where he and his granddaughter Olivia would play golf together. Allen was a member of the Morris Lions Club, Morris Moose Club, past President of the Morris Illini Club, a member of the Grundy County Red Cross Board and was a School Board member for 10 years plus President of the Board for the Morris Elementary District 54. He enjoyed playing golf and traveling.
Allen is survived by his loving wife Frances; sons Troy Kief of Morris, Grant (Carolyn) Kief of Sarasota, Florida; and granddaughters Olivia, Layne, Carlyle, Alexandra and Audrey.
He is preceded by his parents; daughter Amy Kief; and siblings Lyle Kief and Joyce Metz.
A graveside service for Allen will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 10:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery in Morris. Due to Covid and family requests, we are requesting anyone who would like to gather for the graveside to meet at UC Davis-Callahan Funeral Home at 9:30 am for a procession to Evergreen Cemetery. We are asking you to remain in cars until we ready to leave for procession.
