After graduating from Remington High School in 1959 and International Business College in 1961, she married W. Roger Reffe on February 24, 1962. Firmly seated in her faith, she devoted her life to her husband and family. As a career long member of AMTA, Carolyn retired from MasterAid Co., her self-owned massage therapy business, after 45 successful years. Carolyn was a woman of mirth and mischief with a prankster's heart and playful and ornery sense of humor. Her passion was learning how to do new things. Her hobbies included many forms of woodworking (building, carving, etching, etc.), motorcycling (in her younger years), painting, cross-stitch, metal detecting, quilting, making crystal angels for inbound hospital and nursing home patients, doing puzzles of all kinds, bird watching through her front window, collecting Energizer Bunny memorabilia and more. Already deeply missed, she is survived by her children; Ken (Linda) Reffe, Dorinda (Darryl) Springer, Adonica (Omid) Zahedi and Peter (Bekah) Reffe; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and her brother, Ralph Alter. Her husband of 59 years, W. Roger Reffe, joined her in Heaven four days after her passing.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Penny Jane Reffe and her siblings, Robert Alter, Don Alter and Dean Alter.
Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, 6557 N. Clinton St., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be 3-7 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, Linn Grove, Indiana.
