James Robert Clevenger, (Jim), 78 years old, of Little Rock, AR passed away after a brief illness on January 1, 2022.

Jim was born in Girard, Illinois on October 5, 1943 to George and Mary Clevenger. Following his high school graduation, Jim joined the United States Air Force retiring after 20 years of faithful service attaining the rank of SMSgt. Jim Clevenger was a veteran of the Vietnam war.

On June 10, 1965, Jim married the love of his life, Cheryl (Haney) Clevenger. Together they raised their two daughters. Jim's time in the Air Force took them to various states and overseas: Texas, Maine, California, Arizona, Montana, Kansas, and Great Britain. They were happily married for 56 years.

Following retirement from the Air Force, Jim settled his family in the Russellville, AR area. He pursued higher education at Arkansas Tech and at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he received his Masters in Science. Jim taught science in the Sheridan school district for ten years. Jim was also a preacher for Ivy Chapel, Disciples of Christ Christian Church for five years. An avid fisherman, Jim spent many happy hours on the water.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two younger brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Cheryl (Haney) Clevenger. Their two daughters: Melody Riley (Randy) of Stuttgart, AR; Michelle Rodgers (Steven Bonds) of Fayetteville, AR; three sisters and two brothers; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

There will be no formal services.
