Mrs. Basinger dies at age 96
Mrs. Cordie Nevins Basinger, 96, of New Bloomfield, died Friday morning at Callaway Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Mrs. Basinger was born near New Bloomfield, July 20, 1874 the daughter of Baxter and Sally Dozier Nevins. She was married to Ernest Basinger April 7,1897. He died in 1947.

She was a member of the Dry Fork Baptist Church and was the first president of the Women's Missionary Union of the church. She attended rural schools in Callaway County and the Kirksville State Normal School. She had taught school in Boone and Callaway counties.

Survivors include: One daughter, Mrs. Marie Mirts New Bloomfield; one brother J. T. Nevins, New Bloomfield two grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 3 p.m Sunday at the Dry Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Anderson officiating assisted by
the Rev. H. A. Selves. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Claypool Funeral Home, New Bloomfield, is in charge of arrangements.
