GRAHAM - Mrs. Mary Ellen Harden Burchell, 76, of Graham, N.C., died at 12:29 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the Alamance Regional Medical Center after two weeks of critical illness.

A former teacher of Cosmetology and a shop owner, Ellen was a member of The Burlington Assembly of God where, in 1990, she started the "Caring Kitchen" that has ministered to many people over the years.

Survivors include two daughters, Tina Call and husband Terry of Gibsonville and Dina Janicki and husband Joey of Graham; grandchildren, Billy Call, Addie Janicki, Jenna Janicki, Joey "Little Joey" Janicki; sisters, Theda Jones of the Carolina Community in Burlington, Ruth Smith of Burlington, Sue Hornaday of Elon, Brenda Watkins of Reidsville; and a brother, James G. Harden Jr. of Haw River.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Gene "Bill" Burchell; parents, James Garland "Jim" Harden Sr. and Addie Sutton Harden; and sisters, Peggy Straughn and June Carol Bowman.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Burlington Assembly of God, 821 Tucker Street, Burlington, N.C. and, at other times, at the home of Tina and Terry Call, 518 Ambler Drive, Gibsonville, N.C. Memorials may be made to the Caring Kitchen in memory of Ellen and may be sent to the Burlington Assembly of God.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Burlington Assembly of God by the Rev. Howard Thompson, pastor. Entombment will follow at the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mrs. Burchell will remain at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham until taken to the church at noon Friday.
