HarlanManteufel, 61, Green Bay, died Thursday, April 12, 2007. He was born February 9, 1946 to the late Clarence and Theresa (Schroeder) Manteufel in Green Bay. He served our country from 1968 to 1972 in the U. S. Marine Corp. On June 11, 1988, he married Cheryl Saevre.

Butch had been employed by Recycled Fibers for the last 14 years. Prior to this, he had been employed by American National Can, retiring after 23 years. Butch enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved children, especially babies. In the last few weeks, his "little buddy" Evan wasn't allowed to leave his side, wishing only to have enough time to teach him to fish.

He was most proud of his service in the U. S. Marine Corp with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He earned many medals and commendations, including two purple hearts. Butch enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening, lawn work and blowing snow. He had a passion for boating and camping.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl; two sons, Tyler Manteufel and Quinn Saevre and his fiance, Keri Hobbs; two grandchildren, Taylar Hobbs and Evan Saevre; four sisters, Darlene (Robert) Maccaux, Shirley (William) Buntin and Sharon De Bauche and her significant other, Sam Lemke, all of Green Bay and Judy Raygo, Marinette; mother and father-in-law, Theresa and Richard Reed, Green Bay; sisters-in-law, Dee Manteufel, Lu Manteufel, and Pam Rosenow and fiance, Greg Schrader, all of Green Bay; brothers-in-law, James Reed and Robert (Darlene) Reed, all of Green Bay; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Elery "Al" Manteufel and Gordon Manteufel; two sisters, Regina (Gordon) De Baker and Julia (Robert) Blozinski; and a brother-in-law, Robert Raygo.

Friends may call after 9:30 A.M. Saturday, April 14, at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 South Madison Street, where the funeral service will take place at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Larry Lange officiating. Full military honors to follow.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to those who helped in his care during his courageous battle, Dr. David Groteluschen and the staff of Green Bay Oncology, Unity Hospice, especially Dar and Gina and Rosie Hoenig, a special friend.
