AMES DEPARTMENT OF THE WATCHMAN
Monday night Mrs. Vanscoy died at her home in this city leaving a family to mourn her loss. She was one of the good women of this community and will be greatly missed by her many friends and her family.
SUBMITTER'S NOTE: I am not positive that Matilda Sherman VanScoy is the Mrs. Vanscoy referenced here-- this is simply a calculated guess. I am unable to find record of her death, grave record or even an age to confirm. James VanScoy, Matilda's husband, remarried Matilda's sister, Cora P. Sherman Merkins, on 5 July 1904. The James Vanscoy family lived in Ames and I find no record of a divorce for James and Matilda so it seems to fit well.
Mrs. VanScoy is listed in the cemetery records as being buried here.
