US Congressman. Born in Calhoun, Kentucky, he attended Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. After leaving school, he found employment as a bank cashier and newspaper editor while he studied law. Cary was admitted to the bar in 1909 and commenced practice as an attorney in Calhoun. He was elected as a Democrat to the Kentucky Legislature, serving from 1914 to 1917, and then appointed as the Prosecuting Attorney of McLean County in (1918 to 1922). He then became the Commonwealth's Attorney for the 6th Judicial District of Kentucky from 1922 until 1931. Cary resigned to accept election to the United States House of Representatives and served as a Congressman representing Kentucky's 2nd District from 1931 to 1936. He was also a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1932. He was reelected twice and died in office in 1936 while attending to business in Cincinnati. The Glover H. Cary Bridge over the Ohio River connecting Owensboro, Kentucky and Spencer County, Indiana is named for him.
