Roy West was born 4-28-1888 in Stockbridge, Michigan. The oldest child of eight children born to William E. and Melvina Akay West.

He married Effie Aseltine 9-25-1908 in Windsor, Canada.

They lived on a farm on Dakin Road near Dansville until 1921 when they moved a short distance away to Clark Road. They lived and worked that farm for the remainder of their lives. A portion of the land still remains in the West family.

Together they had 2 children.
