Robert J. Altopiedi "Peaches", 63, of Norristown, died on Dec. 14, 2007 at Montgomery Hospital. He was born in Norristown on September 15, 1944 to the late Frank J. and Esther (Coscia) Altopiedi. He was a graduate of Conshohocken High School, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving from 1962-66 with rank of Airman 1st Class. Robert was employed as a Deputy Sheriff for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department for more than 32 years. He was a former member of SS. Cosmas and Damian Church in Conshohocken, was a member and Past President from 1989-90 of the Montgomery County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 14, a member of the PA State Sheriff's Association, a former member of the Sons of Italy Lodge 1776, a member of the George Clay Fire Company, and Washington Fire Co., and a member of the Overbrook Club.
He is survived by his longtime friend, Kathleen Nave of Norristown; two aunts, Ann Coscia and Rita DiGregorio, both of Conshohocken, and many friends. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rosemarie Paja, and Frances King.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral Mass on Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 10 a.m. at SS. Cosmas and Damian Church, 209 W. 5th Avenue, Conshohocken. The viewing will be from 8 to 9:45 a.m. at the Emil J. Ciavarelli Family Funeral Homes, 516 Fayette Street, Conshohocken. Interment will be in St. Matthew Cemetery, Conshohocken.
