Jacob E. "Jake" Berwager, 94, of Hanover, PA, entered God's eternal care, Thursday, December 23, 2021 at UPMC Hanover Hospital.

Born November 11, 1927 in Hanover, PA. He was the son of the late Jacob F. and Carrie (Sterner) Berwager. Jake was the loving husband of the late Gladys S. (Shriver) Berwager with whom he shared 43 years of marriage until her passing on November 29, 2012. He was the special friend of the late Mae Hamme.

Jake was a member of Hanover Church of the Brethren, Hanover, PA, The Hanover Moose Lodge 227, the North Hanover Mall Walkers, and the A.A.R.P. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served his country proudly during World War II.

Jake worked at Keystone Wire Cloth for 43 years until his retirement. He enjoyed going to the races at Lincoln Speedway in Hanover and was an avid NASCAR fan.

Jake is survived by his daughters, to his late first wife Marie G. (Stremmel) Berwager, Jeannie Dusman and husband John of Hanover, PA, Karen Griffie and husband Clyde of Hanover, PA, and Tina Redding and husband Terry of Spring Grove, PA, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, his step children Wayne Laughman and wife Christine of Harrisburg, PA, Carol Feeser of Ohio, Susan Kearney and husband Randy of Spring Grove, PA, Denise Wentz and husband Jim of Hanover, PA, six step grandchildren, and 6 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Berwager, a sister, Mildred Grote, and one brother, Clyde Berwager.

A service to celebrate and remember Jake's life will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA, with his Pastor the Rev. Geraldine Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. A viewing and time to share memories with the family will be held from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA as well as from 10 – 11AM, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jake's name to the Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
