Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 19 Sep 1879
"At the residence of his brother, Samuel Dickson, in Ellsworth, on the morning of the 14th Mr. Robert Dickson, in the 46th year of his age died. The deceased was born in Drumadonald Township, County Down, Ireland on 18th September 1833. His father emigrated to the United States in 1840, and settled in Canfield. Here Robert's life was mostly spent on the farm as a dutiful son, an affectionate brother, and a kind and obliging friend. He united with the Presbyterian Church of Canfield under the ministry of the Rev. W.G. March, and continued in good standing till the time of his death, when through the grace of God, we trust he left the church militant to join the Church triumphant. For several years he had been in feeble health his infirmities gradually increasing until he became quite helpless, not being able to move his body, yet he bore all his afflictions with unusual patience and resignation, giving evidence that, "These afflictions, though for the present not joyous, but never-the-less, were working out for him a far more, exceedingly and eternal weight of glory." Hence, when death came he was found ready – waiting, desirous to be with Christ and the last words he uttered were, "Home, Heaven" May the large circle of relatives and friends he has left behind him, meet him there."
