Helen A. Tyson Stewart was the daughter of Thomas Tyson and his wife, Agnes Bankey. She was married to William Stewart.

Helen was a wonderful, sweet lady who watched over our neighborhood children and made us all feel more safe with her vigilance. We will miss her as a friend and neighbor.

Helen A. Stewart, 84, died Dec. 18, 2007. She was born, raised and lived most of her life in McKeesport and moved to Virginia Beach in 1993. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Agnes Bankey Tyson; her husband, William Stewart; sons, James and Robert Stewart; sister, Catherine Reilly; and daughter-in-law, Adrienne Stewart.
Helen is survived by her children, William Stewart, Susan Riazzi and Nancy Crane and her husband David; four grandchildren, Chris and Ty Stewart and Rob and Jeff Riazzi; two great-grandchildren, Abbey and Lauren; a sister, Doris Gleditsch and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Helen was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy as a communications specialist. Helen was an avid bridge player and belonged to various groups in Virginia Beach. Her many dear friends brought her much happiness in her later years. She was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers fan and rarely missed watching a game. Helen was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church, White Oak, Pa. and a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Virginia Beach. Above all, Helen was devoted to her family and she will be greatly missed and eternally cherished by them.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael Lutheran Church, 2208 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23456. Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home, McKeesport, is handling arrangements. "
