Mrs. Shelton, 68, Wife of Manager of Times-Herald
Mrs. Mary Lindsey Shelton, 68, wife of William C. Shelton, who was general manager of the old Washington Times-Herald, died yesterday at her home, 3519 Overlook lane N.W., after a heart attack.
Born in Alexandria, she attended public schools there. She married Mr. Shelton in 1913.
Mrs. Shelton was a member of Metropolitan Memorial Methodist Church and the Inner Wheel of Rotary. She also was active in the work of the Florence Crittenton Home.
Her husband, retired after 40 years in newspaper work, is now a director of the First National Bank of Washington and is active in the building and real estate businesses.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shelton leaves a daughter, Mrs. Lowell J. Bradford, of 5410 Rockwood parkway N.W; a son, William C. Shelton, jr., of 3715 Leland street, Chevy Chase, and three grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Jessie Stegall, of 5222 Fourth street N.E., and another sister, Mrs. Walter Morris of 17 Riggs road N.E.
Services will be at 3 pm. tomorrow at the S.H. Hines Funeral Home, 2901 Fourteenth street N.W. Burial will be in Fort Lincoln Cemetery.
