LAKE ARTHUR - Lydie E. Shirley, 77, of Lake Arthur, died Sunday, April 16, 1995 at home.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lake Arthur United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Johnston officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Arthur Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary in Artesia beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

She was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Vernon, Texas. She married Cecil Clyde Shirley Jan. 24, 1937, in Brownfield, Texas. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1982.

She came to Artesia in 1939 from Seagraves, Texas, and was a homemaker. She was involved with Lake Arthur United Methodist Church and the Joy Center.

Survivors include sons, Billy Shirley, of Las Vegas, Nev., and Jerry Shirley, of Roswell; daughters, Wanda Admire, of Amarillo, Betty Thompson, of Roswell, Margie Thompson of Pixley, Calif., and Sandra Hamilton, of Artesia; sister, Helen Pope, of Texas; brother Martin Droigk, of Odessa, Texas; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
