Haysi, VA – Faye R. Wampler, age 88 of Oquinn Street passed away Monday, December 20, 2021.

A lifelong resident of Haysi, she was a daughter of the late Jason and Martha Owens Raines, being raised by the late Ike (Poppy) and Margaret (Big Mommy) Clevinger Owens, her uncle and aunt.

Faye was last employed as a caregiver and was a member of Haysi Church of Christ, a lifetime member of Haysi Rescue Squad and had been a member of the Lions Club and Kiwanis Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Wampler, a son, Mickey Wampler and a host of brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Teresa (Hank) Fields and Kitty (Mickey) Tiller both of Haysi, VA and Tammy (Herbert) Potts of Hopewell, VA; nine grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brothers, Don (Brenda) Raines of Clintwood, VA and Jerry Raines of Florence, SC; a special nephew, David (Brenda) Davis of Haysi, VA; a friend, Turman Gilbert of Clintwood, VA and her longtime companion, Benji, her dog.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Haysi Church of Christ with Mickey Tiller officiating.

Burial will follow in the Mitchell-Senter Cemetery, Haysi, VA. Pallbearers will be Lucas Deel, Evan Piispanen, Gavin Yates, Keven Couch, Ronnie Brown, Mason Brown, Weston Brown, Dave Ward, Jon Tiller, Billy Fields and Silas Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be David Davis, Terry Bartley, John Whitt, Jerry Edwards and Elders and Deacons of Haysi Church of Christ.

The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021 at the church where a song service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m.
