Edwin Paul Shellnut, of Sheridan, was born on May 18, 1949 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of L.D. Shellnut and the late Bernice Smith Shellnut. He was a self-employed brick mason, a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church, the Brick Layer's Union, was an avid sportsman and hunter and a member of the Gospel Spirit Quartet.

Mr. Shellnut died Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Baptist Health Medical Center at the age of 58.

Survivors: Wife, Gerry Shellnut of the home; Sons, Paul and wife Vickey Shellnut of Prattsville; Michael and wife Stacey of Bryant; Daughters, Becky and husband David Johnson of East End; Terri Duncan of Redfield; Mandy Trantham and husband Mike of Sheridan; Father, L.D. Shellnut of Sheridan; Sisters, Barbara and husband Billy Shumate of Scottsville, Kentucky; Jeannie and husband Arther Harp of Sheridan; Grandchildren, Morgan, Katie, Zachary, Brandon, Nola and Sarah.
