Cooper Review-January,1907- The death angel visited the home of James Cummings of Prattville on Monday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, Jan. 14th 1907 and claimed for its own a devoted husband and kind and loving father. Grandpa Cummings was here on a visit from Bailey and died from pneumonia. The deceased was born on the 15th day of August, 1815, in Lincoln County, Tennessee, one mile from Fayetteville. He married Sarah (Sary) Birmington in 1842. She died September 12th, 1890. He had nine children;three sons and one daughter survive him; of fifty grandchildren, forty survive him;of thirty-three great grandchildren, thirtypne survive him. He was a noble Christian man and he was for many years a member of the Christian Church. He was 92 years of age. He was buried at the Antioch Cemetery on tuesday afternoon, the 15th. Funeral services conducted by Bro. McVay. He leaves many relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Weep not, dear Grandpa had gone on before, let us be prepared to Heart and voice in chorus singing Hallelujah to our King.
