Geri graduated in 1959 from Our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo. She coached the North Valley Girls' softball team and was very active with the North Valley Optimist Club organizing the Albuquerque Toy Run and food distribution for many years.
Geri worked at SIC Finance, Ford Motor Credit and retired a Farmers Insurance Agent. After retirement she worked for the Scott family running the Wonder Bread Hostess Thrift Shop (her favorite job).
She later joined the senior center, was a volunteer bingo caller and made a new group of special friends. She loved the outdoors, to travel, eat out, and playing at the casinos. She was most happy with family and friends.
Geri was preceded in death by her husband, "Charley" Lee; father and mother, Alice and Alberto Montoya; step-father, Nick Tafoya; and sister, Lorraine Herrera; and step-brothers Herman, Leonard and Bishop Arthur Tafoya.
She leaves behind her loving son, David Paul Sanchez; her sisters, Arlene Santillanes, and Lydia Gonzales, and little brother, Andrew Tafoya and wife Kathryn; step-sisters, Rosalie and husband Danny Sandoval and family; and Priscilla Howard and family; step-brother, Larry and wife Viola Tafoya and family; and many more loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers were: "Spinner Girls," Dori, Velma, Toni, Kookie, Alice, Bernice
Honorary pallbearers were: Melissa, Ruby, Janice, Gina, Teri, Janice, and Elaine; Godsons Danny Santillanes, Steven Kitts; God daughter Ester Maestas.
