Alvin R. Abraham (Al), 93, of Wheaton, MD, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA died peacefully of natural causes in Manhattan, Kansas, Tuesday, December 14, 2021, surrounded by family.

He was born in Pittsburgh on August 19, 1928, the son of the late Mary Frances nee Neidhardt and John William Abraham. Alvin graduated from Wilkinsburg High School, Class of '45 and The American University, Class of '67 Baccalaureate in Business Administration.

Al was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and John Abraham, his first wife Joan Eleanor Hill, his second wife, Sandra L. Gladhill, his son Mark Abraham, his sister Lucille Agate and brother John William Abraham, Jr.

Alvin is survived by his sister Dorothy Highberger, his daughters Jill D'Andrea and Judy Glowiak, his son Leigh Abraham, his cherished companion Beverly Kazden and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was a member of the Aspen Hill Christian Church and loved serving in their choir. Al was a Korean War veteran and had retired from the National Security Agency in 1988 as a Procurement Officer after a long career even earning recognition as a Kentucky Colonel. He loved reading, nature documentaries, crossword puzzles, traveling, family history, corny jokes, and especially family and friends.

Alvin will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. We are all richer for having had him in our lives. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Nature Conservancy or the Aspen Hill Christian Church.

The funeral service will be at the Aspen Hill Christian Church, 13501 Georgia Avenue, Aspen Hill, Maryland, 20906 on January 4, 2022, at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Veirs Mill Road, Rockville, Maryland 20853.
