Kathy, age 35, died from cancer at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was the daughter of Lawrence W. and Mary (Martinek) Schumaker. She graduated from St. Marys High School in 1974 and Brown-Mackie Business College in Salina in 1975. She married Richard J. Brinkman on July 23, 1977, in St. Marys.
Survivors include her husband, her children, Heather Brinkman and Kristopor Brinkman, her parents, her sisters, Teresa McClure, Mary Rafferty, and Jeannette Schumaker, her grandfather, Henry Martinek, and her grandmother, Cecilia Schumaker.
Mass of Christian burial was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Burial was in Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
