On December 15, 2021, the Lord, in a mighty wind, came to Buffalo, OK and Roxanna Mae Greenlee followed him home as the dust settled. She was born to Kearrian C Ashlock and Ruby Francis Weese on December 24, 1933, at the Doby Springs home. Roxanna began her childhood in a wood clad "shack" with a dirt floor for her shared bedroom and attended Doby Springs School with her siblings. The Ashlock family later moved to the Southeast part of the Original Town of Buffalo and attended Buffalo Schools from which she graduated in May of 1951. She worked throughout high school at Harper's Café and at the Hospital with Dr. Mitchell as a nurse (even assisting with surgeries).
A stolen ice cream cone sparked a romance with the love of her life, Arvid Devearl Greenlee, and the two were married September 23, 1951, at the Baptist church of Buffalo with Rev. L A Leach officiating. Her to-be sister-in-law, Doris Greenlee was her attendee and her to-be brother-in-law, Lloyd W Greenlee was the best man. To this marriage came four children: Deborah Ann, James Devearl, Jeffrey John, and Kent William. They made their home on the Greenlee farm Southwest of Buffalo.
Roxanna worked as a cook, a bus driver, and a custodian for the Buffalo Public Schools as well as taking part in community and church events. She also shared her connection with the Holy Spirit to be a philosopher, mentor, and spiritual guide to all. Roxanna enjoyed singing with family, friends, and her husband. She tried to learn to play the banjo but found her talent playing the autoharp.
Roxanna was devoted to family and that generosity extended way beyond and touched many that she not only worked with but those that she met. Never were items too lost to be found, many heads of hair not braided, uniforms unwashed, floors and windows not spotless or facilities unready for the next event.
After retirement, Roxanna continued to "be of service" by doing clothing alterations and sewing or just repairing sewing machines and vacuum cleaners. Later due to declining mobility, she and Arvid moved to town. They enjoyed visits with family and friends for the rest of their days together. She remained by Arvid's side and helped with all his needs despite her inability to walk until he passed. Then, she too was diagnosed with a terminal illness and decided to remain at home until her time was done. Most always she had an evening visit or a Sunday night of playing Mexican Train, there was never a day that she regretted. And she knew, according to all contacts from the last week, that her time was near and that she was ready to go. Roxanna was proceeded in death by her father, an infant son, her mother, two brothers, Les Ashlock and "Junior" Ashlock, her daughter, her husband, and a sister Dorothy Gillenwaters.
