Glen Raymond Heaton
October 6, 1933 - December 12, 2021 (age 88)

Our beloved uncle, Glen Raymond Heaton, peacefully passed away December 12, 2021 at the age of 88, surrounded by his family. Raymond was born on October 6, 1933 in the Cedar City hospital, the third child and second son of Glen and Nina Bunting Heaton. He was a perfect baby before his birth, but severe injuries incurred during the birthing process caused a cerebral hemorrhage resulting in mental and physical handicaps. Baby Raymond fought hard to live and he has been fighting hard ever since. His wasn't an easy life, but Raymond never gave up. He always trusted in God and made the best of any situation. He has been a great example to all of his family members and friends who love and honor him.

Raymond was a hard worker and enjoyed working. He always knew how to do a job and was ready to instruct and help others. After attending school and working for many years in Northern Utah, Raymond returned home and lived with his mother and his beloved sister, Loie Jean Murray and her family.

Raymond was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a firm testimony of his Heavenly Father and of his Savior Jesus Christ. He was ordained to the Melchizedek Priesthood and was so excited to go to the temple.

Raymond had great memories of being a Boy Scout, a 4-H member, and taking part in several Utah and National Special Olympics. Raymond always had a great story to tell and had a remarkable life of courage and fortitude.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all who had a part through these many years in Raymond's life. We express appreciation to the Cedar City Senior Citizens and all county and state programs which he has been part of and to those individuals that made a daily difference in his life and in the lives of so many others.

Raymond has a very special niece, Jessie Stephenson Williamson. With her love, she changed his life for the better. She helped Raymond see the joy of life in so many ways. She helped him learn to dance so they could dance together at her wedding reception. She dressed him up for Halloween and like Santa Clause for Christmas, which he loved. He made the best Santa Claus with his "Ho, Ho, Ho's". We all thank you Jessie, his face would light up whenever you came in the room!

For almost four years Raymond has lived at Stonehenge in Cedar City, where he has been treated like family. Thank you to all the residence and personnel, we appreciate your kind and helpful ways. Special thanks to Joy Matheson and Dean Turner, you always brightened his day! Thank you all for your patience, amazing skills and love!

Raymond is survived by his brother Micheal Heaton (Alice) Washington, Utah and his sister Christene Linton (David) Kanarraville, Utah and four generations of nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Loie Jean Murray and his brother Robert Glen Heaton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 17th, 12:00 pm at the Old Rock Church (75 East Center, Cedar City). A viewing will be held prior to Friday's service from 10:30 – 11:30 am, at the church. Interment in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary. www.sumortuary.com
