Services for Melvin Carl Coy, 61 of Columbus, Kansas who passed at 10:15pm tuesday in SE Kansas TB Hosptial in Chanute, KS where he had been a patient since April 7, will be at 2:00 pm Friday in Murdock Funeral Home.

The Rev. Roy Walker and the Rev. Wendell Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Colubus, KS Military rites will be conducted at the grave

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8pm today at the funeral home

Mr. Coy was born February 2, 1910 in Chetopa, and moved to Columbus in 1954 He was a retired miner. He was a Vetern of World War II, a member of the Columbus American alegion Post, and attended the Church of the Nazarene.

Surviving are his widow Mrs. Beulah Coy; a brother, William Coy, 4 sisters Mrs. Naomi Morris, Mrs. Hazel Caldwell, Mrs. Myrtle Willis, and Mrs. Rosalie Cormeny, A step-brother William Wells and 2 Step-sisters Mrs,. Nita Bell Joy and Mrs Mary Lou Wallace

Rest Easy Carl, Thank you for being such a special man in the life of my grandmother and mother

Military Service:
Carl Coy was drafted into the US Army where he was a member of the Field Artillery Corp and rose to the rank of Private First Class. He took part in many battles in France and was badly wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was captured by the German Army on Dec. 19, 1944 in the Belgium area and was interred in Stalag 4B near Muhlberg, Germany. He was liberated on or about June 6, 1945. He survived his captivity and wounds, returned home and married Beulah Green. He never regained his health and was never able to enter into any gainful employment.
