Mrs. John Cox, of near Steeles Tavern, died quite suddenly at the home of her father, Mr. John Campbell, near Greenville, on Saturday. Her father suffered a stroke of paralysis on Friday and his children were summoned to his bedside. Mrs. Cox left home in her usual health, but was taken sick Saturday morning (August 6, 1904) and died about noon. She is survived by her husband, Mr. John Cox, engineer for the Searson Milling Co., and three children. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at Mt. Carmel, and a large concourse of friends assembled to pay a last tribute to a kind neighbor and friend.
