She was the daughter of Alexander Blackburn Hamilton and Lillie Savanah Rennels. She married Otis Henry Sherrill on Dec. 19, 1922. He died in 1973. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Jean Getts on May 28, 2000 and Evelyn Coffee in 1995; two sisters, Jewel Johnston and Opal Caves; and brother Paul Hamilton.
