Isabell and John took in nephew Claude Merlin Thacker to live in their home for six and a half years. They already had seven children at that time. John and Isabell had built their brick home in Heber City.

Both Isabell and John were active in church and civic affairs. He belonged to the Dramatic society and took part in many plays. When Heber 2nd Ward Chapel and the Amusement Hall was being built, he was head of the finance committee. He was Mayor of Heber City. He was very kind hearted and generous.

Isabell was ambitious. She worked for people in their homes to help the family income. She bought the first sewing machine the family owned. She paid her own tuition and went to school, later becoming one of the first school teachers in Daniel. The family was very sociable and talented in music. They loved to sing and often met with other families for an evening of music. Isabell was an attractive young lady with light naturally wavy hair and blue eyes, and a happy disposition.

Isabelle Tonks Thacker is the daughter of Rachel V.Tonks and William Thacker. She married John Ephraim Mouton March 23, 1882 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

They had eight children: Charlotte Elizabeth Moulton, John Thomas Moulton, Frederick William Moulton, Addison Charles Moulton, Deyce Bell Moulton, Albert Thacker Moulton, Ernest Dewey Moulton and Ethel Fern Moulton.
