Robert S. Kirchner, 90 of rural Canton, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at his home in rural Canton.

The son of Albert and Minnie Arnold Kirchner was born on July 15, 1931 at Winchester, Missouri.

He was united in marriage to Rita M. Ellison on October 25, 1952 at the Shrine of St. Patrick at St. Patrick, Missouri.

Robert was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was able to take part in the Great River Honor Flight. He farmed, worked for Martin Chevrolet and the LaGrange Foundry. He was also a member and Chaplain of Otto Bruner Post #170, a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2526, an office holder of GMP Local #143 Union and a member of Cursillo. He liked to go fishing, hunting and working in his garden. One of the greatest joys of his life was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rita Kirchner of Canton, Mo.; three children, James R. Kirchner of Canton, Mo., Gary M. Kirchner of Canton, Mo. and Maria J. (Kevin) Shirey of Canton, Mo.; grandchildren, Sara Marie Little (Jeff Robertson), Brady L. Bugh (Josh Hayes), Shaylor Z. (Cassie) Kirchner, Cameron Kirchner, Tyler (Kayla) Shirey and Matthew (Amanda) Shirey; great-grandchildren, Alei, Lana, Bria, Owen, Kelby and Kacey; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kirchner of Kahoka, Mo. and Dorothy Stuckwisch of Warsaw, Il.; brother-in-law, Robert Ellison of Canton, Mo.; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rovene Uhlmeyer, two brothers, Charles Kirchner and Arnold Kirchner and several brother and sister in laws.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church at St. Patrick, Missouri by Father Rob Fields. Inurnment will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery with Military Honors by Otto Bruner Post #170.
