A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 27, 2021 at St. Mary Mother of the Church in Lafayette for Addie Bouillion Melancon, 88, who passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Our Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor In Lafayette.

The family requests that visitation be observed in Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN location on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Church on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of services at 10:00 AM.

Inurnment will be held at Fountain Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.

Reverend Cedric Sonnier, Pastor of St. Mary Mother of the Church in Lafayette, will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass.

Survivors include two daughters, Debran Guidry and her husband, Bobby, and Marion Von Dette and her husband, Brian; six sons, Darrell Melancon and his wife, Susan, Tony Melancon and his wife, Brenda, John Melancon and his wife, Monica, Mark Melancon and his wife, Linda, Greg Melancon and his wife, Lois, and Phil Melancon and his wife, Heidi; one brother, Davis Bouillion; twenty-one grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Paul "JP" Melancon, her parents, Edward and Celeman Alleman Bouillion; four brothers, Houston, Odey, Victor, and Belton Bouillion; and two sisters, Eunice Mouton and Sadie Prejean.

Addie was a devout Catholic and a loving friend. Her home was always open for a fresh cup of coffee and a good conversation. She was a dedicated mother to eight children and loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.

Pallbearers will be her six sons, Darrell Melancon, Tony Melancon, John Melancon, Mark Melancon, Greg Melancon and Phil Melancon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her two beloved sons-in-law, Bobby Guidry and Brian Von Dette.

A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Melancon family to the caring staff of Our Lady of the Oaks and Heart of Hospice for their compassion and support.
