Merced, California - On November 14, 2021, Ethleen passed away peacefully and now she is with her Lord and Savior. Ethleen was born to Louis Adolph Abel and Hattie Louise Abel (Pick) on August 7, 1929 on her family farm in Buckholts, Texas. She was 92 years old.
Ethleen met her husband while attending Business College in Austin, Texas. She married Robert Leonard George on August 15, 1948 and they were married for 69 years until his death on April 22, 2018. Ethleen and Robert were members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 65 Years.
Ethleen was a kind and loving wife and mother to her 3 children, Neal, Connie and Jeffrey. In the mid fifties dad and mom moved to California. During the coming years she worked for the Merced County Treasurer's Office and later retiring from the Planada School District after 14 years as a teacher's aid. Ethleen had a passion for flower gardening, especially her gorgeous roses. No matter what time of year it was she always had fresh flowers in her home. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the honor of knowing her.
Ethleen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her other 5 siblings. She had 3 brothers and 2 sisters and her grandson, Eric Hamilton.
Ethleen is survived by 2 sons, Neal (Ann) George of Mariposa, Ca., Jeff (Kathy) George of Merced, Ca,and her daughter, Connie Hamilton and husband Keith of Whitehall, Montana. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Allison Butler, Dylan Foster, Delaney (Josh) Cheley, Danyale (A.J.) Cox, Darienne (Keith) Baker and Adam (Rebecca) Hamilton. Also survived by 15 great grandchildren, many various cousins, nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home located at 1490 B Street, Merced, Ca. The funeral service will be on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Saint Paul's Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, Merced, Ca.
Remembrances may be made to Saint Paul's Lutheran Church at 2916 N. McKee Rd., Merced, Ca. 95340.
